After working in the ad agency for almost 2 years, I decided to try my hand on publishing although the thought of working with a template didn’t really awed me. Fortunately, Hardware Zone Magazine (HWM) Singapore has outsourced the content and layout of their special publications to a team in Manila so I wasn’t really doing the tedious and meticulous job of layouting with magazine templates. I did, of course, worked with templates but with the ones I designed myself so there was still lots of room for creativity.

It was my first time to fully utilize the capacity of Adobe Indesign and InCopy when I worked on this 120-page layout. If I remembered correctly, we were initially given more than 12 weeks to work on the layout. Boy, was I glad to have more than enough time polishing the layout to perfection since this is my first book project ever. But 12 weeks was reduced to a grueling 3 weeks since the contents and photos weren’t ready yet. Fortunately, as we were nearing the third week and just half of the pages were laid out, the management realized they have to get me an extra hand. And so like any project that seems impossible, we were able to beat the inhumane deadline. Talk about working 24/7 including holidays. How fun is that? :)

Too bad the book isn’t sold locally. I wonder why I don’t have my own copy yet. Karlo??? Or if there’s anyone planning a trip to Singapore, do buzz me or just surprise me with a copy. :)
